The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has enjoined Nigerians to strengthen the polity through genuine commitment to national unity.
In his Christmas message to Christians on Friday, Tambuwal asked Nigerians to reflect on the positive tenets of Christianity to enhance stability and prosperity of the nation as they celebrate Christmas.
According to the message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam, the Speaker called for sustained prayers for peace, unity and stability in the country.
He admonished all to be their brother’s keepers and shun all vices and negative acts that could jeopardise the efforts of government in providing democracy dividends to the citizens.
He said, “This period calls for sober reflection and continued prayers for our dear nation. We must replicate on the teachings and lessons of Christmas; exhibit good character; extend hands of fellowship and build blocks of unity with all irrespective of our perceived differences.
“On our part, we are committed to providing legislative measures and interventions that will support government’s effort at guaranteeing peace, welfare and security of Nigerians and the greater development of our dear country in line with our legislative agenda.”
