Trump and the First Lady, Melania Trump, have been confirmed to have the corona virus after tests results came back positive. On Thursday evening, the president tweeted that he and the First Lady have started the process of self-isolation after a close aide, Hope Hicks, tested positive for the corona virus and is said to be showing symptoms. The president only on Wednesday travelled with Hicks, 31, to Minnesota for a campaign event. Hicks tested positive on Thursday morning and is quarantined at home in Washington DC.
Despite the knowledge of a positive test by his senior aide, the president on Thursday held a fundraising event in New Jersey where he interacted with several people without a mask. Health officials now have the daunting task of contact tracing to contain further spread of the virus. The Democratic rival, Joe Biden, who debated Trump on Tuesday at a time Trump may have been infected, is scheduled to be tested on Friday morning.
