Wamakko picks APC senatorial ticket (Governors’ retirement home)

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko yesterday picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for Sokoto North Senatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections.

The governor was elected by no fewer than 2,432 delegates at the Trade Fair Complex in Sokoto city.

Announcing the result, Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Alhaji Nasiru Danladi Bako said the governor  scored 2,372 votes to emerge winner of the primaries.

In his speech, Governor Wamakko assured the zone of a responsive and vibrant representation in the Senate if elected in 2015.

He thanked the delegates and the party members for confidence reposed in him  and promised them he would not fail.

The two candidates elected in other senatorial zones on the party’s platform included Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba Damboa (Sokoto West) and Alhaji Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East) senatorial districts respectively.
