13 Governors Meet in Katsina

Thirteen governors from the South-South, South-East and North-Western states held a closed door meeting yesterday in Katsina.The meeting, chaired by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, was for the purpose of discussing issues pertaining to the unity and progress of the country.In his remarks, Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State said the purpose of their meeting was the unity, progress and development of the nation.
He said the meeting has demonstrated the capacity of Nigerian governors to come together and work for the progress of this country.
“It is the governor’s forum that plays a very important role in the trying times of this nation in a democratic dispensation.” Shema said
In his remark after the meeting, Governor Obi said they were in Katsina to discuss issues that will unify of this country.
“As you all know we don’t have any other country except this one and we the governors have resolved that we must work together for this country, we must work for the future of our children.”
In his closing remarks the host, Shema, said their coming together as governors is a national service
“We came together as governors to do one fundamental thing, that is to encourage the feeling of nationalism among Nigerians, to preach tolerance and accommodations among our people all over Nigeria, and to symbolize that this country can move forward in unity and peace”
All the South-eastern and the North- eastern states governors were in attendance including Theodore Orji of Abia, Peter Obi of Anambra; Sullivan Chime of Enugu, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi state and Ikedi Ohakim of Imo state.
From the North-west, governors in attendance include Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari of Kebbi, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi of Zamfara, Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Chief Host Ibrahim Shema.
