2023 Women’s World Cup: Abiodun to miss Super Falcons’ clash with Republic of Ireland
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Saturday, July 29th, 2023By Mike Oyebola
Deborah Abiodun will sit out Nigeria’s final Group B game against the Republic of Ireland on Monday.
Abiodun was sent off in Nigeria’s opening fixture against Olympics champions Canada.
The 19-year-old was suspended for Thursday’s 3-2 victory against co-hosts Australia.
FIFA has now confirmed that she is also suspended for the upcoming clash against the Girls in Green.
Abiodun will, however, be available for the Round of 16 in case the Super Falcons make it through from the group stage.
Asisat Oshoala, Blessing Demehin and Michelle Alozie are on the caution list and risk missing the next match if they get booked in Monday’s match.
The Super Falcons need a point against Vera Pauw’s side to earn a spot in the Round of 16.
