Enyeama, Mikel out

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama will miss the last four games of the season with a knee injury, his Lille coach Franck Passi said on Thursday, AFP reports.

Enyeama, who represented Nigeria at the 2002, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, is his country’s most capped player with more than 100 appearances for the Super Eagles. He was injured against Rennes on April 15.

Passi said Enyeama, 34, would undergo an operation next week to “clean up” the knee.

“It will therefore be difficult for him to play again before the end of the season because he needs two to three weeks (rest) before returning,” said Passi.

Meanwhile, Eagles captain Mikel Obi is injured and he is set to miss the AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa in Uyo in June.

Sources claimed on Thursday that the Tianjin TEDA player had pulled out of the Bafana Bafana clash.

It was learnt that the former Chelsea midfielder travelled to England to see a specialist where it was revealed to him that he would need undergo surgery, which could rule him out of action for two months.wp_posts
