Video: Imo State University students ‘embarrass’ Uzodinma during election campaign

Students of the Imo State University (IMSU) on Monday, made a mockery of Governor Hope Uzodinma, during a visit to the institution for his campaign, ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

Naija News reports that the state will be electing its next governor on Saturday in a contest which is already generating controversies due to the activities of the police and counter accusations from the opposition parties.

In a video shared online, the students were seen chanting “no light, no light’ while shouting at the top of their voices as the governor mounted the rostrum to address them.

According to Sahara Reporters, the students refused to grant an audience to the governor after the electricity workers cut off the power supply to the institution for four days.

A student said, “Uzodinma went to the Imo State University to speak to the students and campaign. After mounting the rostrum, we started shouting ‘no light”, because we have not had light for the past 4 to 5 days.”

“This is because electricity workers went on strike over the assault on NLC president Joe Ajaero,” another student said.

Uzodinma Sent Police, Thugs To Shoot At My Vehicle

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the November 11 governorship election in Imo state, Attan Achonu, has accused the police of attacking him and his convoy while on his way to church in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.

The LP flag bearer told journalists he was at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Obibiezena community to attend its synod when the dire incident happened.

He alleged that policemen with thugs attacked him and prevented him and his convoy from gaining access to the church premises.

Achonu said that the policemen told him he would not be granted entry into the church premises because the state governor, Hope Uzodimma, was at the church service.

Achonu said that he confronted the policemen and questioned why he should be stopped from worshipping God in his state, but the policemen, together with some thugs attacked his convoy and shot at his vehicles.
