9 Die In Separate Accidents In Ibadan
Headlines, Oyo, State News Friday, May 6th, 2011Eight people were reported dead on Friday evening in an accident which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the accident occurred around 1.45 p.m. at around Km 11 on the expressway. The eight of them were said to have died immediately.
Four were said to be men, while the remaining four were women. The FRSC said a truck, with registration number XB 591 AGG was on the wrong lane and came face to face with a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XA 484 JER, coming from Ibadan and collided with it.
The corpses have been deposited at Beloved Hospital, Soka, Ibadan.
In another incident, a privately-owned car, which failed to obey traffic signal at Sango area of Ibadan caused the death of a man.
Saturday Tribune learnt that a police woman jumped into the car in order to arrest him for the violation, but the driver kept driving for a long distance, a situation which made the policewoman to raise the alarm.
In an attempt to negotiate a bend, the driver was said to have ran over a man who was fixing a mechanical fault on his car by the road side.
