Human rights activist gunned down

President of Human Rights, Justice and Peace Foundation, Chidi Nwosu, was killed by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday.

A family source informed Thetimesofnigeria.com that Nwosu was trailed to his house in Abia State by armed men around 1am and shot dead.

His wife and 5 year-old daughter were locked up in the toilet as they shot him.

He was 39 years old and survived by aged parents.

Nwosu had spent the better part of his life fighting against human rights violations in Nigeria with particular focus on his home state, Abia. He was a torn in the flesh of former governor of the state, Orji Kalu, whom he accused of looting the state’s treasury.

On May 6, 2009, he accused the Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji of plotting to assassinate him. The governor denied the allegation.wp_posts
