Boko Haram: Jonathan is main target says, PDP chieftain
Latest Politics Friday, September 9th, 2011A chieftain of the PDP in Lagos State, Barrister Owolabi Salis, has blamed the Boko Haram terror on enemies of President Goodluck Jonathan, who do not want him to succeed, and even wish him dead.
The Wall Street Attorney who pilots the Operation Rescue Lagos Initiative emphasized that the latest attack on the UN building in Nigeria was aimed at attracting international umbrage against Nigeria as a terrorist nation and alienate the international community and foreign investors from the country.
“The end point of these mischievous efforts by the avowed national saboteurs is for Jonathan to be declared a failure. But on this, they have certainly failed”, said the veteran politician.
Against this background, the politician – philanthropist called on Muslims to exploit the congenial spiritual climate of the end of the Holy Ramadan, which climaxed in the recently celebrated Eid-el-Fitri, to mount a sustained and intensified prayer for the success of Jonathan.
He emphasized that the call became necessary in view of the pivotal position of the president as the embodiment of the nation’s aspirations, and a foremost symbol of peace and unity of the country.
“As practitioners of the noble religion of Islam, which preaches love, peace and unity, I call on fellow brethren to utilize that auspicious moment in the Islamic calendar as a contact point to resolve to rededicate ourselves in continuous prayer, day in day out, and at all times, that the Almighty Allah may guide our beloved president, protect him and bestow on him the wisdom to successfully pilot the affairs of the nation to the enviable dream height of our national founding fathers”, the finance technocrat, and two-time gubernational contender in Lagos State said.
He stated that the prayers for Jonathan become even more necessary because of his detribalized nature and also as a lover of the Islamic religion who doesn’t discriminate on the grounds of religion, inspite of the fact that he is a Christian.
“There is no doubt that our beloved president is an embodiment of love, peace and unity which is all that Islam preaches. He is the connecting link between Christians and Muslims and the diverse ethnic nationalities, and it is not surprising that he enjoyed an overwhelming support across the nation and also across different party affiliations at the last general elections”, the politician, who sponsors a programme on community development on 92.9 Bond F.M. Stated.
