Retired headmaster, 95 kidnapped in Delta
Delta, Headlines, State News Sunday, December 18th, 2011Ogharefe clan, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State has been thrown into confusion following the reported kidnap of its community leader, Pa Emmanuel T. Ofa.
Pa Ofa, 95, who retired as a primary school headmaster, is believed to be the oldest man in Adagboyeri Community in Ogharefe.
Popularly called E.T. Ofa, the nonagenarian was forcefully taken away by gunmen, who stormed his home at about 9.30pm on the fateful day. He was said to be in his sitting room reliving life experiences with his children and grandchildren when the hoodlums forced him out at gunpoint and led him into a waiting vehicle.
His children, grandchildren and relatives are said to have been in tension.
Residents, who were in a confused state, wondered what the hoodlums would gain by abducting the nonagenarian. Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Charles Muka confirmed the incident in Asaba
He said the Police had already mobilised to ensure that Pa Ofa was released unhurt and that the hoodlums would be apprehended even as he urged residents in the community to remain calm.
