Oshiomhole Assures Hausa Community in Edo of Safety (Where is the assurance for your own people in the north?)
Edo, Headlines, State News Sunday, January 8th, 2012EDO State Governor, Adams Oshiomhiole, yesterday, assured the Hausa community in the state of safety while denouncing speculation on plan to unleash violence on them.
The governor gave the assurance when leaders of the Hausa community in the state, led by the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Isa Adamu, met with him.
In the meeting, which had top security personnel in the state in attendance, Oshiomhole said the impression that Hausa were moving in droves from the state was false.
“I do not subscribe to those who think that some have more right to the ownership of where they live. Nigeria can never make progress on the basis of such ideology. It is reassuring that you do not have any fear.
“I want to re-assure you that there is no cause for alarm. If anybody tries otherwise, then government is ready to deal with such persons. But there is nothing like that in the state. This country is our own, and for me, I can never leave here for another country,” Oshiomhole said.
The governor also directed that the meeting be convened quarterly.
