Boulder crushes father of 3 in Bauchi
Bauchi, Headlines, State News Tuesday, January 17th, 2012A father of three in Bauchi State, Idris Abdullahi, has been crushed to death by a boulder as he was excavating sands at the foot of the boulder to mould bricks.
Idris’ untimely death last Saturday has thrown the residents of Miri, a suburb of the state capital where the incident happened into sorrow.
The deceased was said to have been moulding bricks to build his house when he met his untimely death.
Daily Sun learnt that boulder caved in as Idris and his friend Nuhu dug deep under boulder’s foot.
While Nuhu was said to have survived unhurt, Idris was not fortunate, as he was crushed to death.
It was learnt that there was no strong foundation for the boulder to stand, forcing it to suddenly roll and fell on him.
It was further learnt that the boulder landed on Idris’s chest and killed him instantly.
It took over three hours for boulder to be lifted for the lifeless body of Idris to be removed.
The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Efforts to reach Idris partner, Nuhu to speak on the incident did not succeed as at the time of filing this report.
The father of Idris, Abdullahi described the death of his son as an act of God, saying he was destined to die the way he died.
Abdullahi said whatever God decided there was nothing he could do about his son’s death, adding that the deceased was a worthy son.
Idris’ wife Hamma, 21, was seen weeping profusely and could not speak to newsmen about the incident.
His three children Musa 4, Amina, 3 and Fanzia, who is one year and six months were seen holding their mother as she broke down.
