IGP vows to change image of police (We have heard that before)

Acting Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, at the weekend, declared that his administration was ready to change the face and image of the Nigeria Police.

Speaking with senior police officers serving at the force headquarters, the IGP said those who were ready to be members of his team, must be ready to work and shun corruption.

In the one-hour meeting held behind closed doors, the police boss noted that the police had received enough bashing in the recent past, which he said was not good for the system, hence the need for the officers and men to change their attitude to create good image for the force.

Informed sources at the meeting told the Nigerian Tribune that the IGP, who was blunt in reading the riot act to the officers, said officers and men should be ready to work in any part of the country and be ready to deliver.

He further noted that all the crimes bedevilling the nation would be dealt with and that officers should be ready for an outright onslaught on criminal elements.

The IGP declared that the police were a noble organisation and as such, the officers and men must carry their shoulders high once they had performed their constitutional responsibilities without blemish.

According to him, all saboteurs must find their way out of the force, because they would not be accommodated any longer.

He directed all departmental heads to immediately forward to his office, all the requirements that would enable them to perform their duties creditably.
