Bayelsa: Ex Gov. Sylva’s aides allegedly abscond with 200 govt vehicles
Bayelsa, Headlines, State News Wednesday, March 21st, 2012NO fewer than 200 vehicles, belonging to the Bayelsa State government, had been allegedly taken away by political appointees, who served in the immediate past administration of Governor Timipre Sylva, Nigerian Tribune investigation has revealed.
A credible source informed the Nigerian Tribune that most of the aides of the former governor failed to handover vehicles in their possession.
Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered that the state governor, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, had insisted that his administration would not procure new vehicles, but ensure that vehicles allegedly taken away by Sylva’s political appointees and aides were recovered.
However, while reacting to the alleged carting away of over 200 vehicles belonging to the state government by the political appointees who served in the administration of former Governor Timipre Sylva, his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Doifie Ola, described the allegation as spurious and ridiculous.
Speaking during a telephone chat with the Nigerian Tribune in Yenagoa, on Wednesday, he asserted that, “if they say that the fleet in the Government House has a specific number, it means they have an inventory of those cars. It is easy to track those cars so there is no need to invade the residences of people in a bid to recover the vehicles”.wp_posts
