Obafemi Martins scored his first goal of the season for Rubin Kazan on Sunday to sink moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala in their Russian Premier League game. It was Martins’ third start in six appearances for the club but he was substituted in the 57th minute.

Martins’ goal came in the 50th minute to stun Anzhi who featured Samuel Eto’o and Chris Samba.

Samsunspor striker, Ekigho Ehiosun, had to play through pain to help his relegation-threatened club to a much needed 1-0 win over Besiktas on Sunday.

The former Warri Wolves player was later substituted with Anil Dilaver in the 82nd minute.

Ehiosun later revealed on his twitter account that he had fever before going in for the game.

“Not easy playing with fever, flu and injected knee. The feeling you don’t want to know. But thank God for strength, I came out victorious,” he tweeted.

Elderson Echijile scored his fourth goal of the season for Sporting Braga against Benfica on Saturday. The 82nd minute effort was an equaliser for the visitors after Benfica had taken the lead through an Axel Witsel penalty in the 77th minute.

When it seemed Echiejile’s goal would earn Braga a valuable away point, Benfica struck back in added minutes through Bruno Cesar to bag the maximum points and stay second in the log.

Braga are third in the table, two points behind league leaders, FC Porto.

Brown Ideye opened scoring for Dynamo Kyiv on Sunday in the 3-1 win over Chornomorets in the Ukrainian Premier League. The 27th minute strike was his 11th for the season. Denis Garmash and Oleksandr Aliyev scored a goal each to complete the routing and keep Kyiv atop in the table.
