Yar’Adua’s daughter, 2 senators secure tickets in Katsina

THE daughter of late President Yar’Adua, Hajiya Mariam, has replaced her husband, Hon. Badamasi Kabir who was said to be seriously sick as the PDP House of Reps member for katsina federal constituency.

Also two of the three incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of the 15 members of the House of Representatives from Katsina State will contest in the forthcoming general election.

The two senators are Sen. Ibrahim Ida, representing Katsina Central Senatorial Zone who defeated a banker, Alhaji Lamis Shehu Dikko, by a wide margin of 2,070 votes to 54 7votes, while Senator Mohammed Kanti Bello was unanimously returned by the delegates from Daura Senatorial zone.

The five members of the House of Reps that would make it back to the lower chamber include, Hon. Salisu Majigiri(Mashi/Dutsi Federal constituency), Hon. Sada Soli(Kaita/Jibia), Hon. Bala Banye(Batagarawa/Rimi/Charanchi), Hon. Abdulaziz Tijjani Dandume(Funtua/Dandume) and Hon. Sani Dabai(Danja/Bakori).

The Chairman, kafur Local Government Area, Alhaji Bature Umar Masari, also defeated the incumbent member, Hon. Abdulkadir Nasir, representing Malumfashi/Kafur Federal constituency, while that of Mani/Bindawa federal constituency went to the Chairman Mani Local Council, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna Jani.

Two commissioners in the state, Alhaji Nasiru Muazu Danmusa and Alhaji Danlami Garba Musawa clinched the PDP ticket for Batsari/Safana/Danmusa and Musawa/Matazu federal constituencies.

Speaking shortly after being declared winner, Senator Ibrahim Ida thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would protect their interest and improve their lot.
