Agoro Threatens to Sue Buhari, FG over Buhari’s treasonable statements

Chairman of the National Action Council, Dr Olapade Agoro, has vowed to sue Major General Muhammed Buhari (rtd) and the Federal Government unless the retired general is arrested and prosecuted over a statement credited to him that the Federal Government was worse than Boko Haram.

Buhari, the candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 presidential election, was reported to have said that with the level of corruption in the country, the Federal Government was worse than Boko Haram, when some members of the party from Niger State paid him a courtesy visit in Kaduna.

Agoro, who stormed the Imalefalafia, Ibadan office of the Saturday Tribune, said: “What General Buhari said was reckless and irresponsible at this time of our security challenge. By saying that the Federal Government is worse than Boko Haram, is he saying that the Federal Government has been killing people? Has the Federal Government been unleashing terror on the nation? It is an irresponsible statement and if the Federal Government fails to take action against him, I will take Buhari up. I will challenge him and take him to court.”

The former presidential candidate said the statement credited to Buhari provided the government the needed opportunity to move against the former Head of State.

“It was Buhari that triggered the present situation. It was he who challenged the Northerners to go out and cause problem if the 2011 presidential election did not go in his favour.

“We are all witnesses to what happened afterwards. The current wave of insecurity in the North is a consequence of that statement. That is why the government should not take this lightly. This is an invitation to anarchy, it is an invitation to Boko Haram members to cause more havoc.

“This is why the government should take him up and prosecute him now. Should the government fail to do this, I will sue Buhari and join the Federal Government. We cannot fold our arms and watch our country go to the dogs,” Agoro said.
