Taye Taiwo: Ukraine-based Nigerian pros angry with Keshi

By ROMANUS UGWU, Abuja

Omission of Ukrai-based Nigerian players among invited foreign players to prosecute the Super Eagles AFCON qualification matches has angered the uninvired players, who have sent the Nigeria’s Head Coach, Stephen Keshi’s, name into their black books. Dynamo Kyiv’s sensational striker,

Brown Ideye, who made the disclosure while fielding questions from Daily Sunsports after helping the Super Eagles pick the South Africa 2013 Nations Cup, in Calabar recently, said that majority of his compatriots have complained repeatedly about the Eagles’ coach turning his back on them. The Nigerian international further revealed that former Olympique de Marseille defender, Taye Taiwo, was particularly disturbed over Keshi’s continued exclusion of his name from the list of invited players, stressing they had severally spoken on the issue. Reacting to the relationship among the Nigerian players in Ukraine, Idyeye, said:

“Taye Taiwo joined us recently and I can tell you that he is a great person. We made sure that we keep our friendship on and off the pitch. Let me, however, confess to you that he felt bad when I left Ukraine to Nigeria for the game against Liberia. “He actually expected his invitation because we spoke a week before Keshi announced the team’s list. He felt bad when it did not finally come. I advised him that a player should be ready for any surprise in football. I told him not to be angry.

I advised him to pick up courage, concentrate on his club activities, pray and wait for the national team’s invitation. I told him it would surely come,” he revealed. While emphasising that other compatriots in Ukraine have the same feelings over the neglect, the former Sochaux FC of France attacker, said: “Other players in Ukraine equally complained to me of not getting invitation, but I also told them that there was little or nothing I can do about it. The whole thing stops on the table of the head coach.
