UNILAG Graduates 119 Students with First Class Honours
Education, Headlines Thursday, January 20th, 2011The Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Babatunde Sofoluwe has said that 119 students out of 7,041 graduating students passed with First Class Division Degrees with Faculty of Engineering topping the list.
He disclosed this at the graduation ceremony held recently at the university auditorium. According to him; “a total of 76 students received their doctorate degree in Philosophy and other disciplines. “For the first time in the history of this university, we will be honouring all past chancellors of the school with a special senate session”.
The breakdown of the faculties with first degree are Arts, 586, Education, 511, Environmental Science 193, Science 431, Social Sciences 438, College of Medicine 242 among others.
Prof. Sofoluwe posited that the university has stringent criteria which potential candidates must satisfy before qualifying for awards, which is a minimum of 15 years professorship with outstanding research, teaching and in the university. “The candidates must have contributed immensely to research, publication of books or reputable journals”, he added.wp_posts
