I’ll expose Ohakim –Okorocha

•Gov promises to go public with probe reports

By CHINELO OBOGO

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has set up a panel that would probe his predecessor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim. A statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media, (print), to the governor, Ebere Uzoukwa said the probe was long overdue and the government has concluded plans to inform the public about the former governor’s activities, while he was in office.

While hosting a group, the Joint Action Group (JAG), which had earlier issued a 14–day ultimatum to the governor to probe the Ohakim administration, Okorocha said his government had set up a panel that was handling the issue. His words: “Nobody has negotiated to cover the activities of Ohakim within the four years he governed the state, rather, it may interest you to know that the panel set up to look into the activities of the former governor has just presented its report.

Within the remaining 14 days of your ultimatum, we shall make his activities while he was in government known to the public. “I agree that it is worrisome that Ohakim carried out only three uncompleted projects in four years and only 87 kilometres of uncompleted projects. So, the money meant for the state must be somewhere and if that money is recovered, it will help make health care services free in addition to the free education programme.

I urge everyone to be law-abiding, as the security agencies and other relevant authorities are set to ensure that the former governor faces the full wrath of the law.” Earlier, the leader of the group, Rev. Ngozi Amadi had said though the leadership of the group had been receiving threat messages, it would not derail their persistent call for justice. In her words: “Our leadership has been receiving threat calls and messages, but it will not stop our call for justice and we will not rest on our oars until those who looted the treasury are brought to book.”
