Letter: Kudos to Abia varsity for withdrawing Kalu’s certificate
Abia, Headlines, Letters, State News Sunday, March 3rd, 2013The editor, I would like to thank the senate of Abia State University for withdrawing the certificate formerly granted our admirable one-time governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu. If I have the power to grant national honors, the members of the Senate of the university who who voted for the withdrawal of the certificate should be awarded national honors. They did not go the usual Nigerian “man know man”. Chief Orji Uzor Kalu”s action is not different from the bold-faced Lance Armstrong did in winning 7 consecutive tours of CYCLING FRANCE DE TOUR.
While we are happy with the honorable members of this university Senate, what happens to the members of the former Senate that voted that Orji Uzor Kalu was worthy to receive the certificate in the first place. If I were allowed to suggest, all the members should be denied one year increment in the 2013 pay. A strong warning letter should be issued by the Visitor to the University to reprimand them of their shameful act for fueling corruption.
I do hope that universities like the one in Abuja will borrow a leaf from what Abia State University had just done. Their names are now written in gold in the annals of academic history.
Ladies and gentlemen of the senate of Abia State University, please keep up the good work.
