Boko Haram: Northern rulers visit Jonathan
Boko Haram, Latest Politics Tuesday, April 16th, 2013MANY traditional rulers from the Northern part of the country were at the Aso Rock Villa Abuja last night ostensibly to plead with President Goodluck Jonathan to press ahead with granting amnesty to the members of Boko Haram sect.
The delegation which was led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III met with the president behind the closed door for about one and a half hour.
Accompanying the Sultan to the meeting, were the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai, Emir of Bauchi, Rilwan Adamu, Ohinoyi of Ebira land in Kogi State, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim and the Gwong Gbong Jos, Da Jacob Buba Gyang among others.
The Sultan reportedly read the speech containing the position of the North on the controversial amnesty and presented it to the president.
