INSECURITY: Uduaghan calls for state police (So you can use it to oppress your opponents/enemies)
Delta, Headlines, State News Sunday, December 22nd, 2013By Emma Arubi & Akpokona Omafuaire
WARRI—DELTA State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, weekend, reiterated the call for the creation of state police to effectively combat crime in the country.
The governor made the observation during the quarterly meeting with traditional rulers and local government transition committee chairmen in the state held at the Government House annexe in Warri.
Uduaghan insisted that the state police might not have the power as the federal police but could handle trivial issues such as disagreement between family and neighbours which federal police now handled instead of confronting serious crimes.
He said: “The number of policemen in the country is not enough. There is need to have state police to complement the existing ones.”
