Suspected pipeline vandals arrested in Bayelsa
Bayelsa, Niger Delta Tuesday, December 21st, 2010ELEVEN suspected pipeline vandals, including a native doctor, were, on Monday, caught on the creeks of Bayelsa State, with over 172,500 illegally refined petroleum products worth thousands of naira.
The suspects were arrested at two different locations; Igbomaturu and Nembe creeks in Southern Ijaw and Nembe local government areas of the state, by the operatives of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF).
The native doctor, who hails from Ondo State, described himself as victim of circumstance, adding that he was not a member of the team as being alleged, but was hawking herbal medicine inside the boat.
Briefing newsmen over the seizure of the petroleum products, the commander, JTF, Major-General Charles Omoregie, said one of the boats, tagged Cotonou, was discovered during a raid carried out at Igbomaturu in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.wp_posts
