Breaking News!!! Godswill Akpabio Orders the Arrest of a Journalist—Mr. Thomas Thomas

Mr. Thomas Thomas is the editor of a front line newspaper in Akwa Ibom State known as the Global Concord. The newspaper is one of the few in Akwa Ibom State that stands for truth without accepting brown envelopes from Godswill Akpabio and other members of his administration. For standing for truth, agitating for justice, and condemning corrupt practices of Godswill Akpabio, the paper has always been on the bad side of Akpabio since its founding nearly or about five years ago.

A few weeks ago, the newspaper published a “Breaking News” story, which was posted by this writer on the Internet. The story exposed the plans by Godswill Akpabio to assassinate the Paramount Rulers of Etinan and Ibiono Local Government Areas for their refusal to support Udom Emmanuel, whom Akpabio wants to impose on Akwa Ibom people as his successor. Immediately after the story was published, Godswill Akpabio issued an order to the SSS and his security details for the arrest of Mr. Thomas Thomas.

Yesterday (July 2, 2014), according to the information confirmed by reliable sources, Mr. Thomas Thomas was arrested by the SSS. Initially, the SSS denied the arrest only to admit to it after various media organizations throughout the country had begun to put pressure on the SSS concerning the whereabouts of the journalist. As of this writing, the whereabouts of Mr. Thomas Thomas is not known. There are speculations that he has already been killed either during the time the SSS attempted to arrest him or while in detention.
