Boko Haram kills soldiers, cleric, 10 others in Gombe
Gombe, Headlines, State News Wednesday, November 5th, 2014Gunmen, suspected to be members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, attacked the headquarters of Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe state, North-East Nigeria on Tuesday, killing soldiers, an Islamic cleric and left no fewer than 10 persons dead.
But the state Police Commissioner, Kudu Nma, however, said he had yet to hear of the incident.
He however pledged to give the details of the incident when he had information on it.
A resident of the area told journalists on the telephone that the gunmen stormed the town around11am in four Hilux vans and numerous Bajaj motorcycles, wielding guns and shooting sporadically into the air.
He said they immediately set the Police station and the local government secretariat ablaze.
“The gunmen then went to the house of an Islamic cleric named Adamu Misira and opened fire on him and other people numbering over 10 that were there with him, killing all of them. They had earlier killed the soldiers on duty at the checkpoint between Gombe and Yobe states, located in Nafada,” said the resident, who pleaded for anonymity.
Suspected terrorists attacked the central motor park in Gombe metropolis five days ago with explosives, killing no fewer than 20 residents.
