Ex-Mr. Nigeria sues PDP, others
Latest Politics Tuesday, February 15th, 2011A former “Mr. Nigeria,” Angalapele Inemotimi, has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the Peoples Democratic Party from presenting Mr. Teddy Bai to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The plaintiff is also asking the court to stop the electoral body from accepting Bai as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming state Assembly election in Kolukoma/Opokuma constituency in Bayelsa State.
A copy of the court processes was made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Tuesday.
The plaintiff also joined Mr. James Edugo; a member of the House of Representatives, Warman Ogoriba and Sobre Appah as co-defendants to the suit.
Inemotimi sued on behalf of himself and three others: Kren-Kidi Chamberlain, Binalayefa Gagariga and Ukienoye King.
In an originating summons filed by his lawyer, Mr. Jackson Agine, the plaintiff wants the court to determine whether, upon a proper interpretation of Article 14 (1) of the PDP’s constitution as amended, the tenure of officers duly elected into PDP Bayelsa state execute office in accordance with the party’s constitution, is not four years.
The case has been adjourned till February 24.
