Why I support Jonathan’s ambition – FCT Minister

THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Mohammed, has said he was behind President Jonathan’s ambition to get elected in April not because he does not want a fellow northerner to clinch the presidency, but that based on the circumstance in which the president assumed mantle of leadership, he remained the most suitable choice for the number one post.

This is even as the minister maintained that his political stand does not in any way amount to a repudiation of his background as a northerner, a devout Muslim and a Hausa-Fulani man.

Speaking during a meeting with Islamic clerics in Abuja, led by the Chief Imam of National Mosque, Abuja, Sheik Musa Mohammed, the Senator informed that Jonathan had been receiving massive support from a lot of Nigerians, reminding them that that President Jonathan remained committed to transparent elections in April.

The minister praised the Imams and Muslims in Abuja for their support forhis administration. He pledged continuous commitment to security of lives and properties of Abuja residents.

Responding, Sheikh Mohammed pledged their commitment to peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians.

He urged President Jonathan to ensure that there is security in Plateau State for all, irrespective of religious inclination, warning that whatever happens in Jos might have a ripple effect on the rest of the country.
