JAMB to begin e-Exams in 2012

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced its intention to begin electronic examinations next year.

The Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer of JAMB, Prof.’ Dibu Ojerinde, who said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, stated that JAMB had successfully tested a biometric capture system to be used for the 2011 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

This was contained in the statement signed by Mr. Timothy Oyedeji on behalf of Ojerinde. The JAMB registrar enjoined candidates for the 2011 UTME to guard their thumbs jealously.

It said, “As from next year, we are poised to conduct e-examination as we would have provided all necessary ICT infrastructure to make this happen.”

The statement said Ojerinde spoke shortly after the inauguration of the Pilot Scheme on the biometric capture system.

The statement reads in part, “He advised candidates for the 2011 UTME examination to appreciate their thumbs and not to do anything that can disrupt their thumbs from being captured. He said that thumb-printing done during registration would be repeated at all examination centres otherwise they would not be admitted to the examination.

“The registrar said that the biometric capture system has been designed to separate the candidates on the basis of centres. Hence, if a candidate is not registered in a particular centre, he or she can only be captured against that centre and nowhere else.”
