President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed a proposed investment of $5 billion in the Nigerian economy by an Indian business delegation visiting the country. Buhari said the Asian country had already invested $10 billion in the country.
This was even as he said Nigeria and India plan to expand and strengthen their relations in the areas of health, education, agriculture, technology and trade.
President Muhammadu Buhari stated this yesterday when he played host to Indian Vice President, Mohammad Hamid Ansari at the State House.
Buhari stated that the good relationship between the two countries has yielded benefits in trade and investment, agriculture, technology and in the fight against terrorism.
The president said Nigeria would emulate India’s agricultural model and capacity to feed it’s one billion population, as well as export to other countries, describing the country as “sustainable and prosperous.”
Buhari also assured that Nigeria would continue to support reform of the United Nations Security Council and pointed out that it was unfair on the rest of the world for five countries to exercise power of “yes or no” in the United Nations.
