Give me another chance, Kaita begs Siasia
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Monday, March 7th, 2011Nigeria international Sani Kaita has again rued “the worst mistake of my life” when he was sent off at last year’s World Cup and has revealed he looks forward to a Super Eagles recall to show how sorry he is to his country.
In an interview with MTNFootball.com, the midfielder asked Eagles coach Samson Siasia to recall him for a 2012 Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on March 27, almost nine months after he was sent off for a foul on a Greek player as Nigeria fell 2_1 in a 2010 World Cup tie.
“It was the worst thing that ever happened in my life. That was not Sani Kaita,” admitted Kaita, who is now playing regularly at Greek side Iraklis.
“Personally, I was angry and frustrated after what happened and it took me a long time to get over this. I can also understand the anger of the fans.
“Last year, I was picked for a friendly against Iran, which was eventually not played.
“Nigeria is my country and I’m always very proud to represent this country. And now I will give anything to be back playing for the Super Eagles again.”
He added: “I have accepted my big mistake and the only way the whole world will know that is when I return to the team and I’m more professional.
“I’m 100% ready and I will be most fulfilled to be come back, but the final decision rests with the coach.”
Nigeria coach, Samson Siasia, will this week announce his final squad for the Group B Nations Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia in Abuja.wp_posts
