Pillars sour continental weekend
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Monday, March 21st, 2011Kano Pillars were beaten 2-0 late on Sunday night to take the gloss off what should have been a fine weekend for Nigerian clubs in continental competition.
The Nigeria runners-up were beaten 2-0 away to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca and now face an uphil battle to progress in the CAF Champions League.
But it was better news for the rest. Champions Enyimba came away with a 0-0 draw from their trip to Gabon where they faced Union Sportive du Bitam.
On-fire striker Ajani Ibrahim scored as Sunshine Stars claimed a 2-0 win over Cameroon’s Tiko FC in the CAF Confederation Cup, the same result claimed by fellow campaigners Kaduna United against Chad’s Foullah Edifice.
