The Nigerian Government has shut down three international airports to curb the spread of coronavirus across the country.

The affected airports are Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, Kano, Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu and the Port Harcourt Airport, Rivers.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Musa Nuhu in a statement said Kano, Rivers and Enugu international airports will be closed till further notice effective Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Nuhu said the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos will still be opened for now, but no flight will be allowed from the 13 #coronavirus high-risk countries.

Nigeria on Wednesday, 18, 2020, placed a travel restriction on 13 countries with more than 1,000 cases of coronavirus.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha made the announcement at a media briefing on Wednesday.

Mustapha also announced that Nigeria has suspended its visa on arrival policy.

The banned countries are the United State of America, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Iran, Switzerland, Norway, Netherland, France, South Korea, Germany, Italy and Spain.
