Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar IIa, dies 24 hours after hospital admission

(NNP) The cases of mysterious deaths continue in Kano with the unexpected death of the Emir of Rano, (not kano), Tafida Abubakar IIa, who died a few hours after being admitted into the hospital. The Emir was rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after he fell ill on Friday. But due to lack of oxygen, he was taken to Nasarawa Specialist Hospital, where he died.

This death adds to the string of mysterious deaths of high profile citizens of Kano in the last several days, which the state government in a desperate search for answers has attributed to diabetes, hypertension and other health conditions that have manifested as a result of the lockdown. The mysterious deaths have prompted the federal government to investigate the immediate and remote causes.

Rano is one of the new emirates created by the current governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, when he was at loggerheads with the deposed Emir of Kano, and former governor of the Central Bank, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido. The late emir will be buried shortly in accordance with Islamic rites.
