Siasia is on the right track – Kanu
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Thursday, March 31st, 2011
Nigeria legend and Portsmouth forward Nwankwo Kanu has praised his countryman Samson Siasia for the new life he has brought into the Super Eagles since taking over in December 2010.
Nigeria have won three matches out of three under Siasia’s watch with yesterday’s 3-0 defeat of Kenya being the latest.
The Eagles players who found it hard to score under previous coaches have now been scoring freely and could have done more than they did against the Harambee Stars, but for the brilliant reflexes of Arnold Otieno in the Kenyan goal.
“Samson Siasia is on the right footing, ” Kanu told MTNfootball after the game. “The team are scoring goals, not conceding and creating chances,” he said.
Kanu has been appointed as football ambassador by the Nigerian Football Federation after 17 years of service to the country’s national teams.
Kanu won an Under-17 title in 1993, an Olympic gold in 1996 as well as silver and bronze medals at the African Nations Cup with Nigeria over the course of a career that also saw him play at three World Cups.
