Wike reacts to reports of meeting with Tinubu in France
General Politics, Governors, Rivers, State News Friday, July 1st, 2022
Governor Nyesom Wike, now holidaying in Turkey has shrugged off reports that he met in France with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. In a post on Thursday night, the controversial governor simply wrote: “Relaxing and enjoying a fine evening”. He posted two photographs, one of which showed him with his holidaying pal, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state. An APC stalwart in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe had claimed a meeting took place, only for him to delete the post, when challenged by netizens to produce a pictorial proof. There has been no official reaction by both the Tinubu and Wike camps, as the report went viral on Thursday. The unconfirmed report came as Wike was said to be angry with the PDP leaders for overlooking him to pick Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Abubakar Atiku’s running mate. Wike had contested for the presidential ticket, but lost to Atiku. |
