Shekarau may be probed, if … – Kwankwaso

THE Kano State governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said that his administration may probe his predecessor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, provided the ongoing agitation for such a probe demanded for it.

This is just as the governor stated that the government revoked the Kofa Naisa plot of land because some of the beneficiaries had up to 20, 30, 50, 100 and above plots in the area, a land which he said was supposed to be for the downtrodden.

According to him, if the debate continued based on the issue of the financial position of the state handed over to him by the immediate past government, he might have no option but to commence investigation into the affairs of the past government.

Making the assertion at the swearing-in of four top government functionaries at the Africa House, he disclosed that he was working in accordance with what was contained in the reports filed by the transition committee, as well as the hand-over notes given to him, saying that, there was therefore no point debating the issue.

He said venturing into an investigation would create an avenue whereby the truth would be revealed, which would let the world know who was at fault.

This would pave way for the teeming masses to get an authentic report on who was at fault between the committee report or the immediate past administration of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

It would be recalled that the former governor, Malam Shekarau, recently said he was no afraid of any arrest, saying that if the present government has any claims against his government he could challenge him before the court.

Speaking on his behalf, Alhaji Sule Ya’u Sule, the spokesman of the former governor disclosed that the Shekarau’s administration did not borrow any foreign loans.

Meanwhile, while speaking on the government’s position on the revocation of the Kofar Na’isa plots, the governor said that the allocation of the plots was done without due process, in addition to allocating them to undeserving individuals in the state.

According to him, since the Kofar Na’isa plots were for the good people of Kano state, it should be properly utilised for the general benefit of the people in the state.

He then reaffirmed his stand for the revocation and subsequent demolition of the structures erected on the plots illegally as well as their re-allocation to the deserving Talakawa (masses) in addition to providing important structures that would be of benefit to the people of Kano State.
