Kidnapped corps members: NYSC officials resort to prayers
Headlines, NYSC (National Youth Service Corp) Tuesday, June 14th, 2011National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) officials in Rivers have resorted to prayers for the release of five corps members abducted seven days ago.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victims were kidnapped at Omedeme in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state on June 9.
The victims were abducted on their way to inspect a library project they donated to a school as part of their community development services during their primary assignment.
NAN gathered that the abductors had already demanded a ransom of N100 million from the parents of the victims.
Mr Ben Esan, the NYSC Public Relations Officer, told NAN on Monday in Port Harcourt that officials and corps members were asked to seek divine intervention.
NAN gathered that the victims were expected to pass out with the Batch ‘B’ team on Thursday.
“ The major worry of the NYSC officials, in the state is that the kidnappers no longer contact any of the state officials unlike what obtained when a similar incident took place in January.
