Terrorism: Nigeria signs security pact with U.S.
Africa & World Politics, Latest Politics Saturday, June 18th, 2011Nigeria has signed an in-flight security agreement with the United States of America to fortify its borders in the wake of renewed terrorist attacks.
The pact involves the deployment of in-flight security officers/Air Marshals, especially on the Lagos-U.S. route.
Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr Harold Demuren, signed on behalf of Nigeria, while Assistant Administrator, Office of Global Strategies, Transport Security Administration (TSA) of America, Mr. John W. Halinski, signed on behalf of the U.S. government.
The agreement was signed at the TSA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, in the presence of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Professor Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye.
