Adeboye counsels first borns to put God first

Thousands of Lagos residents Sunday defied the early morning downpour and thronged the national headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Meta, Lagos where the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye had a special service for first borns in every family, reports OLAYINKA LATONA.

Speaking on a theme: “Destined to Excel”, Pastor Adeboye said that first borns are special and precious to God because they belong to Him.

Quoting several bible passages to buttress his point, the revered gospel preacher, who dedicated an ultra-modern Police post donated by the national headquarters of the church to Denton Police Station in Ebute Metta, Lagos, disclosed that God expects first borns to excel in all areas of their life just like Jesus Christ.

Adeboye, however, warned that those who are destined for excellence will be tested by God to know if truly they love their maker, stressing “God will always test those who He loves, to know if truly they love Him or not. God will want to know if you will sin to keep your job. God will want to know if you will still serve Him after He has blessed you.”

Addressing journalists at the end of the service, the Special Assistant to Pastor Adeboye on Personnel and Administration, Pastor Johnson Odesola also advised first borns to acknowledge and obey God’s instructions for them to fulfill their God-given destiny.

Odesola commended recent public declaration of assets by President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, saying that the gesture has opened a new page on transparency and accountability in governance in Nigeria.

“Declaration of assets by Mr. President and his vice is a good example that other people in government should emulate. I am of the opinion that two of them are sincere and that sends eloquent signals to the people that their government will not tolerate corruption,” he said.

He explained that the monthly programme was “inspired by God so that the General Overseer can pray for people” as he comes to worship in the parish.
