AFCON 2013: Can Eagles fly over Lone Star today?
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Saturday, October 13th, 2012This evening, exactly at 4pm local time at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Super Eagles of Nigeria will file out against the Lone Star of Liberia for the second leg of 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier. The first leg ended 2-2 draw in Liberia a fortnight ago.
In order to avoid the mistakes of the past that cost them the last nations cup, both the coaching crew and the players have shown commitment and determination to winning this match and qualify Nigeria for the 2013 Afcon.
Coach Stephen Keshi has told Nigerians that all that mattered now was qualification of the team and not whether the team played samba football as he was still trying to get the desired team of their dream.
Also, Chelsea Midfielder, Mikel Obi who is playing his first match with the Eagles in recent time, has assured Nigerians of victory.
His words: “I am here for the game and I am ready to do battle against Liberia. I am in good shape and form now, I will do my best to see that we beat Liberia. It is a battle we have to win, we know what is at stake and we are not taking it easy with them.”
What else can one say than to wait and see! Even at that, do you think the Super Eagles can defeat Liberian team today?
