Al Mustapha’s Wife Urges Northern Leaders to Reject Husband’s Death Sentence
Latest Politics Wednesday, February 1st, 2012Damatur — Wife of Major Hamza al Mustapha, Hajiya Hafsat al Mustapha, has condemned the death sentence passed on her husband and called on northern leaders to disagree with the judgment.
Speaking to our Yobe State correspondent on phone, she said, “We are totally not in support of the judgment of the Lagos High Court for the sentence” According to her, the death sentence that Judge Mojisolsa Dada of the High Court gave on Mustapha over the killing of Kudirat Abiola cannot stand.
She said, “Let me tell you that as far as we are alive, we are not going to agree with this so-called judgment and we are ready to deal with this so called judge,” she said.
Imagine how some one stay in trial for over 13 years without judgment would but we had every right to appeal against the verdict, this is not the end of the matter.
Hafsat said, the sentenced was not justifiable adding that there was nothing connecting al Mustapha to the murder by hanging, “my husband as soon as later will come out by the grace of God.”
She called on the 19 state governors to rise against the judgment on her behalf in order to bring calm in her mind, she added that her husband was incarcerated for years for want of evidence, saying, “to my understanding and surprising how can they justify this sentence.”
She also appealed to the northern youths, elders, governors and politicians to support the battle against the judgment.
In other development, the chairman of Yobe Youths Network (YYN) Comrade Bashir Nguru has said that the judgment was not justifiable, noting that it was a molestation to the young generation. “We are ready to mobilise 250 youths in Yobe State for peaceful demonstration against the verdict,” Nguru said.
