Armed herdsmen kill 32 villagers in Nasarawa

No fewer than 32 people were feared dead on Sunday evening when gunmen suspected to Fulani insurgents gunned down some Eggon villagers in an ambush at Arikya-Soni  in Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State at about 3pm.

It was gathered that the villager were returning from from their farm when the suspected Fulani gunmen, who were said to be armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked the villagers, killing scores of them and went away with nine motorcycles belonging to the deceased persons.

The PUNCH learnt that those that were killed hailed from Umme, Arugbadu and Bakyano villages all in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

Their bodies were said to have been recovered and buried at Umme, amid wailing from family members and sympathisers.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on Sunday, a resident from Arugbadu, Habibu Mohammed, said at Rugbadu that he was returning from the farm along with his parents when Fulani gunmen opened fire on them.
