‘Bode George’s attack on Lagos Assembly cheap’

The Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information and Publicity, Mr. Segun Olulade, has faulted Chief Bode George’s attack on members of the House.

George, a former national Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West Zone, was said to have described the Lagos State House of Assembly as a mere rubber stamp.

The PDP leader was reported to have said that the state Assembly was answerable only to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

But Olulade said the comment credited to George was a reflection of the PDP leader’s “die-hard habit of uttering unguarded and un-statesman-like statements.”

The lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II in the House of Assembly said the statement was insulting to the integrity of the people of Lagos who elected the current set of the state lawmakers.

He said in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday that, “Unlike the secretive party which Bode George represents, the APC is open and the leadership of the party, including those serving in the executive and legislative capacities, is open to people they represent.

“Bode George’s unguarded statement is insulting the integrity of Lagosians who have elected their own representatives into the House of Assembly.

“Lagos Assembly is not a house of commotion, so we don’t sit to issue threats and fight the executive before we can carry out our legislative tasks. Lagosians are blessed with one of the best governors anyone can think of in Nigeria today, hence, we carry out our tasks in checking the executive maturely and amicably, not by shouting, issuing threats and causing commotion as expected by Bode George.”
