Bombings: FG embarks on intensive security campaigns

Federal Government has mapped out some strategic plans to tackle the spate of insecurity in the country.
Making this known at a launch of a book, entitled, Hoodlums, Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku urged Nigerians to beware of abandoned cars, bags and their environments.

Labaran who spoke through the   deputy director in the Ministry of Information, Mr Olusola Osunbayi said government would soon embark on  intensive campaign to ensure that Nigerians are aware of their environments..

He said  government was taking measures to address some of the issues responsible for social unrest such as unemployment and other  poverty related issues.
In  a keynote address, the Director General, Institute of Conflict Resolution, Dr Joseph Golwa decried the attitude of government in resoponding to conflict as every conflict has an early warning indicators.
The author, Sumaila Unaisha, he said, has done well to  capture   a lot of Nigeria’s history in the  book.

He  said the government alone should not be left to provide security for the people, stressing  that the people themselves must be security conscious by volunteering  information when and where necessary.
Reviewing the book, Dr Emman Usman Shehu  said the stories provided the author a platform to explore a variety of themes including political thugery, violence, assassinations, militancy, withcraft, prostitution among others.

He said what should have been a major drawback in the collection, the high number of stories, became a strength because they not only have thematic variety, but they are not all of the same length.
