Breaking News: Al Mustapha, Abacha’s Chief Security Officer, sentenced to death for Kudirat Abiola’s 1996 murder

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere, on Monday, sentenced Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer to Nigeria’s late dictator, Sani Abacha, to death by hanging.
For over twelve years, Al-Mustapha and one Lateef Shofolahan have been standing trial for the murder of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.
The prosecution told the court that Al-Mustapha ordered Sgt. Rogers to kill Kudirat and Shofolahan, her protocol officer, revealed the deceased’s itinerary to the killers.
Kudi was shot dead on June 4, 1996 along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Lagos toll gate, opposite Cargo Vision, Ikeja in Lagos.
