‘Broos will not stop Eagles from thrashing Bafana Bafana’

Team To Play Burkina Faso In London Friendly

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) declared yesterday that the presence of Belgian coach, Hugo Broos with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa would not prevent the Super Eagles from winning their 2019 AFCON qualifier in June.

Broos, who led the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to win a fifth AFCON earlier this month in Gabon has indicated interest to be the new coach of South Africa, according to his agent.

But the chairman Technical Committee of the NFF, Chris Green told The Guardian yesterday that the presence of Broos won’t make a difference as far as their AFCON qualifier with Bafana Bafana in June is concerned.
Both the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana could not qualify for the recently concluded Gabon 2017 AFCON.Broos agent, Gino Laureyssen of Ligi Star Management, revealed during the week that his resume had been submitted to SAFA.

According to Green, the NFF would give the Super Eagles the best of preparation that will see the team win both the AFCON qualifier against South Africa in June and the World Cup qualifier against Lions of Cameroon in August.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles’ Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye has said that the team will meet Burkina Faso in an international friendly next month in London as part of their praparations.

The NFF last week confirmed Senegal as one of the teams to test the Nigerian side in matches meant to prepare the Eagles for the matches against South Africa and Lions of Cameroon.

According to Ibitoye, coach Gernot Rohr has started discussing with the players for the games, adding that preparations for the clashes would soon commence.

“Burkina Faso has been confirmed for the second London friendly against Eagles in March. The negotiations with the NFF is 100 percent settled for now. Senegal, one of the strongest teams in Africa, will also play us in March. Rohr will use the two games to see some new players in some key positions. Eagles are not playing these games for results, but to see our team and the new players,” he said.
