Campus Sex Files (6): Dear Professor Oluchi, I am attracted to my cousin, please advise.
Campus Sex Files, Headlines Saturday, April 30th, 2016Dear Professor Oluchi,
I am a 300 level student at the University of Ibadan and I am dealing with a very special challenge. I have a cousin whom I have known since we were kids growing up in Lagos. Our families are very close and until this day, we get together on holidays, birthdays and festivals. I recently came to find out that she is not a blood relative and that she was adopted as a child by her family. This would explain why I have always been attracted to her. How should I make my feelings known to her since we have been more or less in a “brother-sister” type relationship for over twenty years? Justin – by email
Dear Justin,
You aptly summed up your situation, it is truly a challenge that must be handled carefully with the utmost diligence. For all intensive purposes, she is your cousin even not related by blood given the circumstances you have described. My advise would be to leave her alone as there is always that possibility that she may not feel the same way. And even if she feels the same way, what if you break up down the road? If that is the case, I am sure the cordial relationship between your families will be severely strained. There are many other girls with great qualities you can fall in love with. Certain things are better left alone in life and I am pretty sure this is one of them. Let sleeping dogs lie.
Sincerely,
Professor Oluchiwp_posts
