Church condemns marital abuses

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Kaduna Province II, on Monday condemned the act of marital abuses among Christian spouses.

Mrs Aanuoluwani Olaniyan, wife of the Pastor in charge of province , said that marital abuse was sad and an evil that was now manifesting in Christian homes and in the Church of God.

Olaniyan was speaking at the fourth session of Marriage and Courtship Special Programme for couples and intending couples in Kaduna.

She said that the major cause of marital abuse was insecurity among spouses. This, she said leads to fear of the unknown, which in turn leads to marital conflicts.

According to her, marital conflicts brings about painful memory which often degenerates into physical and emotional abuse.

Olaniyan urged members of the church not to nurse the ambition to change their spouses, adding, “it often leads to marital abuses of all sorts”.

She warned against marital slavery, blackmail, private and public humiliation, isolations, cold treatment, violent words saying,“they were the height of injustice in marriage”. NAN.
